SMITH RE-ELECTED TO THE TAUNTON RETIREMENT BOARD

A notice-of-election for the Taunton Retirement Board was mailed to all members in July 2026.  Nomination papers were due by 10:00 a.m. on August 17, 2026.  As of that deadline, the only nomination paper received was for incumbent board member Dennis M. Smith.

The Taunton (MA) Retirement Board (“Board”) is seeking proposals from qualified law firms to provide Portfolio Monitoring Services to the Board pursuant to the provisions of MGL Chapter 32 and Regulations of the Massachusetts Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission 840 CMR.

The term of current elected member Dennis M. Smith will expire on November 30, 2026.  Therefore, an election will be scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2026 for the purpose of electing one board member to serve on the five-member Taunton Retirement Board for a term of three (3) years, said term to run from December 1, 2026 thru November 30, 2029.

July 1, 2026 Cost-of-Living Adjustment Approved

The Taunton Retirement Board has approved a 3% COLA effective July 1, 2026 for all eligible retirees and survivors of the system who retired on or before June 30, 2025.  At its March 25, 2026 board meeting, member Thomas A. Bernier made the motion to approve, seconded by member Ian D. Taunton Retirement Board welcomes two new members

The two newest members to join the retirement board are Patrick D. DelloRusso, Jr. who was appointed by mayor Shaunna O'Connell on 12/18/2025.  Mr. DelloRusso is the City of Taunton's Chief Finance Officer and serves as the mayoral appointee.
