Fire Lt. Tom Bernier Gains Seat on the Taunton Retirement Board

Perseverance and the desire to serve the members of the Taunton Retirement System were definitely attributes that finally placed Fire Lieutenant Thomas “Tom” Bernier as an elected member to the Board. After four attempts at running, Bernier topped the ticket in the recently held retirement board election on December 5, 2019. 7/1/2019 Cost-of-Living Adjustment Approved by Retirement Board

The Taunton Retirement Board has approved a 3% COLA effective July 1, 2019 for all eligible retirees and survivors of the system who retired on or before June 30, 2018. At its February 27th board meeting, member Dennis M. Smith made the motion to approve, seconded by member Peter H. Corr and the vote was unanimous to provide retirees with the increase.
