The Taunton Retirement Board voted to grant a 3% cost-of-living allowance (COLA) to all eligible retirees and survivors who retired on or before June 30, 2014. The 3% COLA is included in the retirement system’s funding schedule and is predicated on good investment results which have come in at over 9% annualized since 1985. The Taunton Retirement Board will be hosting an Open House to display our new offices located at the Emond Professional Building, 104 Dean Street, Suite 203, Taunton, MA. 02780. We are located on the 2nd floor above the Social Security Office. If you have a moment, please feel free to drop by between the hours of 10:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 for some refreshments. We look forward to seeing you!!

The retirement board offices have moved to our new location at 104 Dean St., Suite 203 (2nd floor), Taunton, MA 02780 (above the Social Security office). This was effective on Monday, March 2, 2015. The office is still being set up and coordinated. We will host an open house in the near future for all members and retirees. In the meantime, thank you for your patience as we have had some technical difficulties transferring our telephone lines etc.

The Taunton Retirement Board has appointed Bristol County Registrar of Deeds Barry J. Amaral as the new board appointee to the retirement board. Mr. Amaral replaced long-time appointee A. Joan Ventura who served on the board since 1996. The Board was appreciative of Ms. Ventura's service and was happy to welcome Mr. Amaral. Dennis M. Smith recently won election to the Taunton Retirement Board at an election held on November 6, 2014 to fill the seat vacated by longtime board member Richard T. Avila. Smith outdistanced fellow challenger firefighter Tom Bernier by a vote of 574 to 389. Smith is a 35-year veteran of the Taunton Police Dept. and a life-long resident of the city. The Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) recently published its Annual Report which details the financial health of all Massachusetts Public Employee Retirement Systems.
