Please be advised that the Taunton Retirement Board recently closed nominations on August 20, 2008 for an “elected member” of the board. The only qualified member to file nomination papers was incumbent Richard T. Avila. As a result, no election will need to be held on November 6, 2008 as previously scheduled.
At a meeting of the retirement board on August 22, 2008, the board voted to certify Mr. Avila’s re-election by declaration pursuant to the state regulations of the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission - CMR 840 7.05. Mr. Avila’s new term will run from December 1, 2008 to November 30, 2011.
